Seoul Tourism Organization(STO) and Seoul MICE greeted its new interns and reporters on Launching Party held on Friday 12th April. The party realized in Baesan Daerim Warehouse Cafe which is also art space with several artworks such as contemporary paintings for customers and visitors in Seongsu-dong. The new members of Seoul MICE from 5 different countries experienced a warm welcome and enjoyable events including team activities, interactive games and informative presentations by guests speakers and MICE team.
Seoul MICE, the initiative of Seoul Tourism Organizations, provides support for the touristic, business-related and cultural activities in accordance with the vision of Seoul: a world top 3 convention city”. For this aim, Seoul Tourism Organization formed Seoul MICE Alliances comprised of numerous convention centers, entertainment business, unique venues, hotels and other types of associations. Seoul MICE Reporter program is one of the various projects of Seoul MICE to contribute the mission and vision of STO, providing better, local and global experience for the visitors from across the world.
2019 Seoul MICE Reporter program is started with the launching party realized with the participation of Korean and international team members. The background, current works, and mission of MICE program have been explained in the event. Team activities and games led to an ice-breaking and integration among new international and Korean members coming from diverse background and cultures. All of the participants converged on one main mission: contributing to the vision of Seoul MICE, ultimately to the tourists and visitors of Seoul.
BAESAN IN SEONGSU – Successful examples of Urban Renaissance in Seoul
This wonderful and distinctive event held in Baesan Daerim Cafe in
Seongsu-dong. Baesan Cafe is one of the Daerim warehouses converted into
cafes, shops, and restaurants in accordance with the idea of ” Urban
Renaissance” which means regeneration of urban cities, districts, and
neighborhoods. Urban renaissance concept idealizes the urban spaces for
not only working but also living and enjoying through designing the city
based on art, tradition and cultural dynamics. Seongsu-dong, one of the
successful example of the “urban renaissance of Seoul”, is a district
that the people can feel diversified dynamics of urban such as
workplaces, cafes-restaurants and art spaces in harmony.
Seongsu has become an attraction center for visitors from other parts of Seoul as well as foreigners who want to have the most real experience of Seoul and this attraction turns Seongsu-dong as a major example and model for urban renaissance. As a prominent culture and recreation space of Seongsu-dong, Baesan Cafe is a good example for urban renaissance efforts since the cafe provides a platform for cafe and art space with pieces of art&design and delicious beverage, cake and other foods for everyone. In a nutshell, Baesan defines not only the concept of cafe and recreation place but also all idea of urban regeneration.

As one of the new reporters of 2019 Seoul MICE, I had a rich experience thanks to the launching event by involving in a multi-cultural team, building new friendships and getting new dreams and responsibilities.
